Mission Santa Barbara

From Brooks Institute Montecito Campus Alston Road turns into Alameda Padre Serra often called A.P.S. for short. Again this gives us a nice overview of Santa Barbara.

At the end of A.P.S. is one of Santa Barbara's most impressive historical landmarks: Mission Santa Barbara. Mission Santa Barbara is known as the Queen of the Missions. Mass is still held here daily. The Santa Barbara Mission is one of the few California Missions that is still an active Catholic Parish. There are free guided tours twice a day.

View From Mission Santa Barbara Many people like to photograph the mission. One thing you don't see as often is a photograph of the incredible view you see from the mission steps. Here's that view.

Just around the corner from the Mission is Saint Anthony's Seminary. In fact this general area seems to be where all the big churches are, including First Presbyterian Church of Santa Barbara, First Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, First Church of Christ Scientist, and the Trinity Episcopal Church. Also just behind the Mission is the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.
